he was a blue chip Shooting Guard outta S Carolina back in the late 90s. he was a diaper dander. he was a veritable beast. He was also an idiot. he stayed back for his senior year to help Carolina get eliminated by Coppin State in the first round… again.

All it did was expose his lack of ability at point guard (the position the he didnt play in colege but would have played in the NBA)… but he never saw a single game in the NBA. he played the hero and gets a heroes welcome whenever he walks into Liberty Tap room in the Vista here in Columbia (i’m headed there right now). Old men buy him drinks. Women over the age of 30 toss themselves at his bar stool. i scoff. he had a chance to pull the trigger on the biggest decision of his life and he let the fanfare get to his head.

just think, had he come out in 1998 - right after S Carolina thrashed Kentucky twice in one season- he woulda been drafted in the late 1st round or late 2nd round. he’d still be spending the interest off his signing bonus. he could be in the playoffs right now

Old and busted: Mike Penner

L.A. Time sportswriter Mike Penner has decided to call it quits. Nope, he’ll still be penning articles for sports i really dont care about (like Soccer). But he’s decided that the weight of being a man is just too much for him bear. Yup, he’s going to have a sex change operation.

New Hotsh!t: Christine Daniels

i’d like to get my piece in before all the snide and demeaning remarks begin. Sure, were he a buddy of mine, i’d some issues. mostly trust issues. were i his buddy, i’d talk a lot of shit.

but were i his buddy, i’d spend a lot of time defending him, too.

Times like these are a moment of judgment for the rest of us. Our reactions to things such as this lays bare our true persona to everyone.

I wish him luck. i’m not sure how being a man could be painful - as i love being a man. there are things about being a man that i just couldnt give up… like the convenience of peeing standing up, not shaving my legs, and ejaculation. Being a woman looks like it has some benefits, but it also looks like it sucks. I’m not sure i could trade being a reasonable attractive man for being a reasonable fugly man-woman. i’m not sure i’d want to sport tits and an Adams Apple. the trauma of his existence must be significant.

so i’ve settled down for a long springtime nap. a quick glance around the sports landscape leaves me wanting. March madness is over and i’ve simply started slapping Gator fan before they even say anything to me. its not jealousy. i’m quite happy an SEC team won the tittle. i’m even comfortable with the idea that Florida won. but those championships seem to work themselves into every conversation.

Me: so how do you feel about Imus and his nappy headed Ho’s?
My brother: he wouldnt have said that if they’d won the championship like my gators.

me: how do you think the SEC will shape up this year
my brother: i think Florida will content for the championship again.

Me: hey bro, wanna shoot some pool and get some wings?
my brother: I told you florida was gonna win it all.
