Sidney Rice’s BJ Challenge

Tag: Uncategorizeddemonicume @ 6:26 pm

Google BJ McKie.

he was a blue chip Shooting Guard outta S Carolina back in the late 90s. he was a diaper dander. he was a veritable beast. He was also an idiot. he stayed back for his senior year to help Carolina get eliminated by Coppin State in the first round… again.

All it did was expose his lack of ability at point guard (the position the he didnt play in colege but would have played in the NBA)… but he never saw a single game in the NBA. he played the hero and gets a heroes welcome whenever he walks into Liberty Tap room in the Vista here in Columbia (i’m headed there right now). Old men buy him drinks. Women over the age of 30 toss themselves at his bar stool. i scoff. he had a chance to pull the trigger on the biggest decision of his life and he let the fanfare get to his head.

just think, had he come out in 1998 - right after S Carolina thrashed Kentucky twice in one season- he woulda been drafted in the late 1st round or late 2nd round. he’d still be spending the interest off his signing bonus. he could be in the playoffs right now

The Gamecock community is bitter over Sidney Rice’s departure. They act as though his hard work here in the metro was altruism. all these fickle fans can think about is an SEC championship - not that a Spurrier offense needs a 4.5 WR. but hate is all over the SC fan boards, here’s what chick-magnet Westcoastcocky had to say:

“”Congrats to Rice for his wise decision to forgo his junior year at Carolina AND pass up
a sure first-round pick in 2008. Not all is lost, however. I’m sure his
signing bonus this year will be enough to cover the costs of his new
Escala…..errrrr, I mean, of taking care of his mom. Loyalty to the
car dealership trumps loyalty to the university… again.
“”

That really pisses me off. though i often battle here, i generally keep to myself on fansites::

i’m issuing a challenge:
name a player who elected to stay back last year who put
himself in a position to make more money this year. in fact, name a
player in the last five years. i’ll even let you pick guys outside of college football.
