Dick Move of the Week
I’ve never understood overt racism. I live in the south, so I know people are idiots. But I’ve never understood the idiot that opens his mouth and lets everyone know he has no social consciousness. Enter the Spain Basketball Team:
I’m not sure why no one - not the company shooting the pictures, not the 16 assholes on the floor, not the country of Spain itself - thought that mocking the Chinese was good idea. In Europe, I heard a lot of ‘you Americans are too sensitive’ whenever someone said something inappropriate… like nigger or darkie or spade.
It’s a matter of respect. I’d like to think that no one has racist feelings. I’m not talking ‘racial’ feelings. We’re culturally different and it’s ok to mock some of those things. I like watermellon and chicken. My white fraternity brother can dance, but he cooks with no seasoning. These are points of difference which make for good times. But mocking the epicanthic fold is a bit childish. Ain’t nothing funny about that.
In case anyone was wondering - shit like this pushes us backwards, not forwards. It pushes us further apart.

The whole thing is bizarre. They claimed that it was intended to be a sign of respect?
For the company responsible for the idea and photo shoot, it was just a blatantly dumb idea. Even worse that not one of those players stopped to think - “hey, I wonder if this is a good idea?” Keep in mind that group includes 2 NBA players in Jose Calderon & Pau Gasol. If there is anybody that should know about cultural diversity and respect, it should be those 2 guys.
Claiming that they didn’t mean it in a negative way is just an admission of complete ignorance.

What a bunch of dumb-shits. I guess they have red necks in Spain also.

I hope Russia gets the next Olympics and this band of “haters” decide to mock Stalin or they all pop out of a giant Matryoshka doll dressed in WWII prison camp attire.
Putin will mail them back in pieces.
