Gamecocks Beat Florida: Why Not Us?

Tag: A Blogger Darkly, College Football, footballdemonicume @ 6:09 am

Why NOT us? Ole Miss did it. We’ve done it. Right now the Gamecocks have the number 1 defense in the country. That’s right - we’ve faced down like 5 powerhouses and came out smokin. We’re 7-3 and hungry.  But for some reason, we’re 21 point underdogs.Granted, we’ve taken some ass-whuppins from Florida. but I’m not impressed with Florida’s offense. What the single defensive juggernaught they’ve faced all season?

Yeah, I can’t think of one either.

Looking at Florida’s Scedule, they’ve put up huge points against teams like Hawaii - the defensive beast that they are. They’ve dropped points on LSU (56), Georgia (49), and vandy (42). Do I think they Gamecock defense can stop florida from scoring… NO. But I do think they can keep Florida uner 30 pts.

Our defense will be the best Florida has seen all season. With good play calling, great adjustments and solid play, I can see us being within a TD going into the 4th. That’s all we need,

Don’t be intimidated. We can pull off this upset. We can keep it close. believe in yourselves, fellas.

Don’t fire Fat Fulmer

Tag: A Blogger Darklydemonicume @ 9:23 am

The Gamecocks thrashed the Tennessee Vols last night. i watched the game online - which was frigging sweet.

ESPN 360 online - gotta love it. Its a feature for AT&T customers that most people don’t know about. Check it out. The only odd thing was that you couldn’t ever hear the sideline reporters. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the game online. We bought a house back in May. To date, I’ve still not had cable or satellite installed. Initially it was because I was being cheap. Then after a few months, i found that I really didn’t miss it. So to watch games this season, I’ve had to go to bars or *GASP* by a ticket and watch it in person. Or I could get sloppy drunk at my Brother’s house. Anyways, I like what ESPN is doing. latency was not an issue.  I didn’t mind the commercials, either.

Back to my Cock - err- Cocks. We beat Tennessee soundly. I must say, though, that I’m tired of these sports pundits making up stories and putting them ourt there as the truth. Steve Spurrier is not leaving USC. We’ve been midly successful - but our boosters have more money than God and are more willing to spend it on the team. If you wanna build a team, SC is the place to do it, right now. We’re hungry to win, we’re not suffering financially like the rest of the country and we’ve been losers a long time. Spurrier sees this. Stop making up stories.

Don’t fire Fulmer. It’s kinda disgusting the way coaches get treated these days. Fulmer is the man. He IS Tennessee football. But a bad season here and there and all of a sudden the fans are calling for someone’s head. Look, firing Fat Fulmer will only hurt your football program. He’s a rock solid guy with experience that everyone knows. I remember all the bitching and moaning about mercenaries like Nick Saban nd Rick Petino. But if Tennessee fires this guy and then hires some head hunter - and then wanders in ineptitude for the next decade, we can trace it back to this game. Hey, no one is calling for Paterno’s job anymore, huh? I guess PSU fans are lucky no one was paying them any fucking attentions

I bet Michigan misses their Old Ball Coach.

It’s the age we live in and I don’t mind it. Lets face the fact that everyone is in this thing to get what they can get - ethics be damned. It’s an issue when a football coach at a university - an institute of higher learning - makes 15x the salary of a tenured and published professor. Lets accept that we’re all shitty people who enjoy these shitty inequities and stop pretending tp give a fuck about guys dancing in the endzone or quitting in the middle of a season. this thing here is a business, and if we learned anything from business, it’s that you gotta look out for yourself.

First our state - err Republicans - forced our state away from state retirement benefits. Then our representatives - err, republicans - pushed us into state Orp invesments rn by their buddies. Then they blew the money on coke and bad home loans. CEOs are still taking $400k vacations and pocketing millions, while Joe 6-Pack misses a game because it’s blacked out. Yup, the NFL worked it out so that if you live within 50 miles of a stadium, you can’t watch a game unless you by a $50 ticket… even though your taxes subsidized the costs of the team.

Darkside Frustrations

Tag: A Blogger Darklydemonicume @ 2:19 pm

I haven’t watched much college football this season. i’ve been spending my Saturdays staring moon-eyed into switch closets and at rows of PCs. There are a couple of things I need to get off my chest.

#1 my Gamecocks are 3 touchdowns from being in the national championship hunt. We’ve lost to 3 teams - all by a touch down. 2 of those games were against guys making theirn own cases for a championship.

#2 I’m tired of the media trying to sabotage my Cowboys. They can self-destruct all by themselves. We don’t need media assholes disrupting our mediocre flow with leading questions and supposition. There have been no T.O. sightings all season. Say what you want, he’s been a model citizen since he got his mutha-fuckin money. I’m satisfied.

#3 when did Florida State become relevant again?

I’m finally watching some football, and Georgia looks really nice. I don’t see the big deal with Stafford. He’s not good. He’s overthrown everyone all game. He overthrew me, and I live in another state. He’s all hype.

My biggest gripe is with our hosting company. I wish my girl would go down as often as this site has. I’m working on it. I’ve placed some monitors on our bandwidth. Things will be more solid in the future. Sorry for the hang up, ya’ll.

A CLusterfuck of Greed in Columbia SC

Today will be witness to the beginning of the end here in SC. Game Day is already a mess which consumes the entirety of the city. I still live in Columbia, so I know better than to head anywhere near the South Side within 3 hours of the game. Every road is diverted towards the stadium. For good or ill, all traffic is pointed towards Williams Brice.
So we got Carolina against LSU. I think we have a shot with appropriate game calling and some luck. The game is here in Columbia, SC. But what’s that across the street from the stadium? The muthafuckin Fair Grounds – and this is the last weekend. It’s going to be a mess. The Fair sells its parking to football fans. So now we have 90k football fans, clashing with 10k women and brats standing in line and eating elephant ears. This should be great.

There are also $200,000 condos surrounding the stadium. I don’t know who convinced these guys it’d be a good idea to live in the shadow of the stadium. But they shoulda fuckin asked me. Come Gameday, you can’t even leave your own gated parking lot for all the rednecks and RVs. That part of the city is shutdown for games. You better have all the beer and chips you need by Friday evening, cuz you’re stuck til after midnight on Saturday.

But it gets worse – Gamecock basketball starts today. It’s not even November yet! Jezuz-titty-fucking-christ. Would it be possible for us to only play 2 sports at a time? It’s still baseball season. It’s still college football season. The NFL is just heating up. The NBA is starting. Now the Gamecock basketball players will miss tonite’s game.

The basketball game means that out upscale bar district will be fraught with Lexuses and SUVS with foreign stickers. That will draw out coppers in squads of 12, which means I’ll actually have to call a cab tonite to get home from the bar.

There will be a cluster fuck here in Columbia, SC tonight. Believe it.
